MANCHESTER UNITED have reportedly hired the brother of Everton defender Michael Keane to be the club’s new transfer chief.

Solicitor Tom Keane is set to replace Matt Judge, who has quit his role as director of transfer negotiations at Old Trafford.

In a summer of change Judge followed Chief Scout Jim Lawlor and Head of Global Scouting Marcel Bout in walking out the door.

Keane will join in a consultancy role, according to The Daily Mail, but will handle transfer and contract negotiations after taking over some of Judge’s commitments.

He is also brother to Wigan striker Will, who was formerly on the books at Old Trafford alongside Toffees defender Michael.

Keane is poised to play a key role in getting players through the door at Manchester United for new boss Erik ten Hag.

The Red Devils are yet to make a signing under the Dutchman, meaning Keane could be in for a busy summer.

Solicitor Keane, who works for legal firm Brandsmiths, has prior experience in negotiating transfers and contracts.

The company website says: “In sport, Tom has vast experience in the football industry where he has become a trusted advisor and representative for household name players, managers and pundits.

“His work for these clients includes negotiating high value transfers, contracts and endorsement agreements.

“Clients who work with Tom appreciate his attention to detail and his focus on the commercial driver behind any deal or dispute.”

Keane is listed on player agency New Era Global Sports’ website as an FA registered intermediary.

It remains to be seen whether there are any new additions on the pitch before Keane takes up his position.

There is longstanding interest in Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong, while SunSport exclusively revealed United were closing in on a move for Ajax winger Antony.
