The National Assembly will elect a new Speaker on Thursday.
The position became vacant following the recent appointment of Thandi Modise into the Cabinet as new Defence Minister.
The ANC has nominated former Defence Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula as the new Speaker.
The DA will field its own candidate.
The EFF will not participate in the election.
