The Chinese mainland recorded 276 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Friday, with 253 linked to local transmissions and 23 from overseas, data from the National Health Commission showed on Saturday.
A total of 1,796 new asymptomatic cases were also recorded on Friday, and 61,780 asymptomatic patients remain under medical observation.
Confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland now number 221,565, with the total death toll from COVID-19 at 5,206.
The latest tally of confirmed cases in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan region is as follows:
Hong Kong: 331,509 (61,067 recoveries, 9,359 deaths)
Macao: 82 (82 recoveries)
Taiwan: 635,870 (13,742 recoveries, 1,009 deaths)
