A British businessman has recounted the ordeal he and many others had to go through to escape Kabul amid the chaotic scenes at the airport.
The man, whose name has been omitted due to security concerns, told Reuters how it took him hours to get close enough to the military so he could let them know he was a British passportholder.
Chaotic scenes unfolded, with gridlocked streets, shooting and panic as foreign nationals and Afghan staffers tried to get out.
